My synopsis
Ashley is in her room and is very upset. In her head all she keeps hearing is what Rose said to her. She runs over to her wardrobe and pulls out all of her clothes. She then picks up the one dress and shoes that her mum got her. Ashley puts them on and goes to the bathroom where she finds Rose's make-up, which she uses to make herself look like a clown.
Ashley walks down the stairs to show and make a point to Rose about how she feels. Rose can hear her coming down and comes out to apologised. She's stops halfway through her sentence as she's shocked about what Ashley has done. Ashley then imitates Rose. Ashley also states that everyone just sees her as a joke and that Rose is just a Barbie doll for boys to drool over. Rose is shocked at what Ashley is doing. Ashley explains that she's doing it to show how she's been feeling all this time. She then storms back up to her room and after slamming her door, bursts into tears and slides down the door.
She has one voice telling her to stick with who she is, whilst the other tells her to be more like her sister. This becomes a conflicted argument between the two and will be shown. The 'Ashley' side is who she is at the present moment arguing why should stay this way. Whilst the other is trying to persuade her to change and be more like her sister. This side will be painted to show the difference between the two perceptions of who she should be.
Ashley lives with her mum, her step-dad and his daughter. She spends most of her spare time reading books, watching films and playing video games alone. She enjoys doing these most when she's alone, as she finds some sort of contentment by spending her time like this. Her mum is worried that she doesn't interact with her peers and is always going to be alone - not realising that Ashley is happy that way. Her mum would rather she'd be like her step-sister, Rose, who always has a busy social life. This results in a quite a few arguments as Ashley feels that her mum doesn't accept her for who she is. Ashley is always telling her mum that she wants to live with her dad, but her mum always ignores it.
One week their parents go off on a holiday and neither Rose or Ashley are happy about having to spend a week alone with each other. During the week at college, Ashley has a bad day as she didn't get the grade she was hoping to get in an essay. When she gets home she's still annoyed about this and isn't in the best of moods. Luckily Rose is out so she can spend some time alone. She picks up the post and throws her keys on the floor and goes into the kitchen. Ashley puts the post on the table and gets a glass of water. She goes up to her room and continues to read the rest of her book, whilst listening to her Ipod.
After a while Ashley decided to go back downstairs and get another glass of water. As she was listening to her Ipod loudly, she didn't hear Rose coming home. When she opens the kitchen door she's surprised to see her. Rose is doing her usual routine of applying more make-up. They both give each other a quick glance and then go back to whatever they wanted to do. While she's getting her drink she is still thinking about what happened at college. When Rose questions what she's wearing, Ashley does reply but isn't in the mood for an argument so she tries to walk away. When she's just about to be out of the room, Rose tells her sarcastically that she could have a shot at looking pretty. At the same time Ashley makes a snide remark about how she looks at the moment. Ashley questions what she said and Rose walks so she's near to her and insults her more. Ashley storms out of the room and stops on the stairs whilst she's shouting at Rose. Rose retaliates, telling Ashley that she isn't suprised that she's alone. As the argument seems to escalate more Ashley goes into her room and is very upset.
